You’re not alone! My screen time’s sky rocketed recently - it’s around 5-6 hours a day.. I feel bad about it yet struggle to change it. Fidget toys has helped me tremendously when it comes to staying focus while watching anything! Without them I just keep scrolling or playing games on my phone ._.
You are not alone!! I’ve been battling with this. I’ve had days where mine was more than 8 hours. I don’t look at the exact time now, but I’ve been trying to carry my kindle around with me and read instead of scrolling. I’ve also just bought a miniature watercolour set which I’m going to take on walks and use so when I’m lounging by the coast I don’t have the urge to pull out my phone.
I’m terrible for pulling my phone out on dog walks while he’s sniffing around, so a few times I’ve left it at the van and taken a little point and shoot camera with me instead.
God, that is such a relief to here Amy. I think that's a good idea, I've got a kindle so perhaps I will try that. I am much the same, the dogs spend so much time on walks sniffing the same spot for agggeees... it's so easy to pull your phone out and have a quick scroll.
I feel bad about my phone usage as well. Mine used to be around 4 hours/day and I think it sometimes still is but the app I used to track my usage interfered with the app I'm now using to block Instagram and WhatsApp at hours I really don't want to be on them. Those two our the biggest drivers of my phone usage.
I'd love to do an digital detox retreat at some point but I do love writing on my laptop... is the excuse I make.
You can see it as complimentary rather than a replacement. You don't need it to use your phone less but it mighy just be a nice break for your nervous system, ya know? 😊❤️ It's all in how you frame it.

Ooooh a retreat is a good idea - but I also feel silly for NEEDING a retreat to do that - if you know what I mean?
